I am trying to tile a bathroom that has vinyl flooring from 1972. I pulled up the old vinyl with a heat gun. It is concrete under the vinyl and I scraped and then sanded to remove the black mastic. Most of that is gone. There are no cracks in the concrete but there is a high spot in the middle of the space and it is about 1/8th inch high. I was prepared for low spots but this looks like I need to add 1/8th inch of material to the entire space to deal with this high spot. Any advise here would help. Thanks

You could probably grind it down instead. Avoid building things up when you can. How how is it?

Hi Lady, Please give us a first name. :)

I agree with Jeff. If it's not a huge area I would chip it or grind it down. I prefer chipping. I thinks it's a little less dusty.

On the other hand, an eighth of an inch isn't much. You can make that up with thin set as you set the tiles. Lay the floor out, start on top of the high spot and work out in all directions from there. Use a four-foot level as a staight-edge to keep a check on flatness.
