Hi, I am in serious need of some advice about how to clean my slate shower stall. The house is two years old. The slate was originally sealed with a MIRA product. I sealed it again about one year later. The shower now has a film on the floor and on the walls where the water hits. We do not have a water softener. We do wipe the shower down after using it. How can I clean the slate and restore it to its beautiful original colors and appearance?

Sue Welcome,

First some questions...What Miracle product was used and what kind of slate do you have? Is it honed (smooth) or natural rough textured slate? Where is the film and if you can describe it..Is it looking like soapscum..Is it on the floors and walls or just walls..or would you describe it more as hard water spots..you hinted to not having a softener do you have hard water?

Hi Sue, Welcome! :)

If the surface is not fogged (caused from water getting behind the sealer), but has a film (more than likely soap scum), it shouldn't take a lot of effort to clean with some good cleaning chemicals. One of my favorite is Prosoco All Surface Cleaner diluted to about 3 parts water to 1 part cleaner.

Hi Sue - you mentioned a "Mira" product. Can you remember if it was MiraMatte (enhancer) or MiraShine (glossy "wet look"/topical) coating?

Also pichers would be great - it would give us a much better idea of what you are dealing with.
