I have a slate floor that has been previously sealed with Aqua Mix UltraSeal Premium Stone & Tile Penetrating Sealer and I was thinking about applying the Aqua Mix Enrich'N'Seal to bring out the colors and get a wet look. Since the previous sealer and Enrich'N'Seal are both penetrating sealers, do I need to remove the old sealer or can the Enrich'N'Seal be applied over the old penetrating sealer? Would this allow the full effect in enriching the colors and providing a wet look?

To my knowledge the first sealer can't be stripped,at least not very easily, you might try a test spot with the enhancer to see if it even penetrates. If not you might try a stripping with Methylene Chloride, which is very harmful, follow directions, and i don't know that it will even work.I'll move you to the resto section.

Hey there,

1st things 1st. Don't pull out the MEK that is some caustic stuff that will cause more problems than it will solve.

Simply put some water on the floor and see if it gets wet or beads up.

If it beads up then you will have problems applying the color enhancer.

Hi s25abc10301, Welcome! :)

Please help us by putting a shorter name in your signature box! :D

A short comment on the reference to the use of Methylene Chloride and MEK. They are both extremely dangerous chemicals, and their use should be limited as last resorts by TESTing all other methods first.

The water TEST is by far the easiest TEST to start with. It also depends what type of slate you have, how long since last sealed, and what cleaning chemicals have been used.

Get back to us with your TEST results (of the water).
