View Full Version : Tile Rite requests a bailout

After meeting with my executive board, we have determined that in order for Tile Rite to stay afloat, we will require an infusion of funds from the government.
We feel that it is in the best interest of the public that Tile Rite remain in business, do to the adverse effect our going out of business would have on the local economy. For starters, our local tile distributor would see a drop in sales, an affect that could reverberate throughout the tile world. Our local landfill would also see a dropoff in business as a portion of our work involves tearouts. The local community would also feel the effects of our closing as they would now have to hire installers from the big box retailers, who charge more for their services. This would mean that the locals would have less money for patronizing local business, once again, adversely affecting the economy. On Monday, we will board our corporate jet (Tile Rite One) and fly to Washington to present our case to the government who we feel will be understanding to the repercussions of Tile Rite going under. After all, bailing out failing companies is the American way, right? We ask for the support of all members of the forum. Thank you.
Go to your room, Rick. :)

Besides a-flying' into Andrews AFB in yer’ private jet....... be sure to let them politicos' in DC know how well your bidness' has been managed.
Your company's un-dying devotion to the 50's pink or blue tile look your company has faithfully marketed these past years.
That recycling news should impress em' enough to loosen their hold on some big $$ for ya'. :sheep:

Along the lines of bailouts, I wonder what list of felons will be on Bush's presidential pardon list before he leaves?

They are not well connected enough like Scooter Libby or Marc Rich.

In all fairness, Scooter Libby was set up as a fall guy, and did nothing wrong.
Ramos and Compeon committed the Cardinal sin of shooting an illegal alien drug smuggler inna butt. They should probably be executed for that.

Marc Rich? I think Clinton took care of that one.

By that time you'll be out of business and broke. They'll probably repossess your bicycle too.

They'll probably repossess your bicycle too. might as well, what with all the extra carbon tax on all that CO2 you'll be expelling whilst pedaling up all those hills.
And we'll just ignore the extra methane from the Taco Bells along the way. :x:

They didn't get pardoned but Bush commuted their sentence yesterday.

well, Colin, Bush couldn't pardon Marc Rich - Clinton took care of that one. :stick:
actually, both Bushes were rather stingy with the charity handouts. W even rescinded one when he found out some things he didn't like. Try these numbers:
Clinton - 457
George H. W. Bush - 77 (four years)
Reagan - 406
Carter - 563 (four years)
Since World War II, the largest number of pardons and commutations — 2,031 — came from President Truman, who served 82 days short of eight years.
oh, and W? The final count is now in - 189.
and in case you didn't notice, Democrats lead the pardon parade by a wide margin.

Biggest Constitutional error in my opinion; allowing presidents the power to pardon and commute sentences. At least Bush didn't abuse the power like Clinton did. Anyway, I'm still awaiting my bailout.;)
