Greetings!

This will be the place where the pros can get together to discuss all the important issues of the building trades, in particular those related to tile, stone, concrete, bricks and other things that are hard to cut and place. We will also settle other items of great import, such as who's beer is better -- Canadian, Aussie or American? And what is this Guinness stuff? Non-pros are welcome, too.

The Tile Forum/Advice Board will remain where and what it is, except that it will be devoted to helping do-it-yourselfers, weekend warriors and other fine folk who have become dingy enough to join the ranks of the cement-covered, over-worked and under-appreciated.

The Advice Board/Tile Board will be a place that when people ask specific questions, they'll get concise, to the point information. It doesn't mean we can't embelish it a little. It only means we'll try to not get too far off the subject.

Rob Z. has agreed to become moderator of the Advice Board. I've known Rob longer than anyone else here, and I know he'll do an excellent job for the pay he's receiving [Wait a minute. Now you're telling me we can't pay Rob? Geez!] In any case, I'm sure he'll benefit in some way. [Can't we at least send him a six-pack?]

Well, that's pretty much it. I'll get around to making new links for the home page, and I may transfer a few of the posts from the Advice Board/Tile Forum to this board.

In the meantime, enjoy the new board.

Hey Bri

You glutton for punishment!-4 x 8 cement board? I think I'd rather mud a floor than move those monsters around.

A friend of mine is from Newfoundland. Can you tell me any "Newfie" jokes?

Definition of Guinness
A black beer originating from Ireland with a creamy head, full of iron, usually poured, let stand for 10 minutes or so, topped up, and if poured correctly, you should be able to carve your initial in the head. This initial should still be legible when you have drunk to the bottom of the glass. Available in draft form or bottled.

England qualifies as one of the superior places for beer although we drink it at room temperature, (except for lagers which are drunk cold, as is top pressure cider), which we know is abhorrent to Americans.

German beer can also be very good.

hahaha, Rob,
Probably a whole lot like aggie jokes.

I.E...
How can you tell a Newfie's been using your computer?

All the white-out on the screen.

lame lame lame, Sonnie leaves the room red-faced with tail between legs.

Actually, I've enjoyed warm beer on many occasions. It's all a matter of how many cold ones you've had beforehand.

Aggie jokes and Newfie jokes remind me of when I was going broke in the restaurant business in Indianna years ago. "Hoosiers" entertain themselves by telling jokes about people from Kentucky.

My favorite is a visual, one of those xeroxed things that get passed around. This particular one was labeled "Kentucky Wood Stove." Below the heading was a drawing of the stove. It was made from wood -- short boards held together with rusty nails. Had a stove pipe poked through the top.

Oh, and does everyone know what "mirror" is in Tennessee?

Come here (pronounced "meer.")

Ahhh, Guinness...

And I LOVE a black and tan-Harp with Guinness, poured so the two beers layer. Guinness on top, Harp on the bottom. My guess is that the Guinness has more alcohol, thus lower density, and floats.

I have been forced to drink hundreds of these things to be able to study the phenomenon.

Sonny and Bud-Uggghh!

Do you have any more?
