Mrs. Bob and I were out this weekend touring the Arts and Crafts Community outside of Gatlinburg when we came upon this little shop selling handmade tiles in the shapes of leaves. The detail is incredible. Each tile is made with the impression of an actual leaf, fired, then glazed to reproduce the colors. Here's a few pictures I took:

1) A closeup of the leaf tiles on a backsplash
2) A mockup of a countertop and backsplash
3) A tabletop with leaves
4) The shop's sign

The tiles are porcelain, so could be used in a shower or outdoors. Here's some pictures showing some work in progress:

1) A pile of actual leaves, ready for impressing into the clay
2) A tray of wildflower tiles
3) Leaf tiles assembled into sheets ready for installation
4) Smaller leaf tiles in progress

Many thanks go out to the artist, V. Marie, for taking time to show us around allowing us to take pictures in her shop. The shop is called Woodland Tiles, and is located at 252 Blackhorn Road, Gatlinburg, TN 37738. If you want to contact her by phone, send me a PM and I'll give you the number.

Hopefully, Marie will visit us here and stick around to answer your questions about her tiles.

Seems like we had some leaf pitchers a couple years ago around here. Real neat stuff, wonder if it's the same outfit. :)

Very nice stuff. Guess I should have gotten off the main drag when we went to Gatlinburg. :)

The other leaves you saw were made by my friend Eric Rattan of Santa Fe Design Studios. He got an award at Coverings for a fire place called "Fallen Leaves." There are pictures on his site:
