There are two beautiful buckets on I75 on my way to work, i gotta stop and get today,no matter the risk, this is a treacherous part of highway so if you don't hear from me you know what happened. :yeah:

It's OK Dave - they're probably your buckets from day before yesterday anyway :D

That's an admirable thing to do, Dave. Risk your life to save a couple deserving buckets. I hope all the bucket abusers around here feel some shame. (They're not Homer buckets, are they?)

I have been spotting a bunch of buckets on the road also,
I stopped a few times and the last 2 had cracks in them so I haven't tried to rescue buckets for a while.
plus I don't think it's worth he risk or brake pads after slamming on the brakes to stop for em'.

Dave, I'll let ya in on a little secret from my days in the food industry.
If ya talk real nice like to a local restaurant and mention that you will be more than happy to take the extra buckets off there hands for them they will be much obliged. (pick a buffet restaurant)
And ya won't risk life & limb for the oh so sought after bucket.
I do admire your public service though volunteering your services to the highway dept.

I to have rescued a bucket or two it was the happiest day of there life so they thought. but then I put them to work and they couldn't even hold water i found out later they had been beaten with a hammer when they were just a little bucket. I think we should start a fund for abandoned and abused buckets.

DENIED!!!! The road work bastards put orange barrels there! One is a Homer, one is white as a babies' butt.I know they ain't one of mine cause they are clean as awhistle.I think if i take the Jon boat and come around the other way on 29 i can row across the lake and come up about half a mile away,i'll then hike it to the buckets, get back to the boat and row back across the lake and they're mine!!!!

My brick mason came to my job this week to rebuild the fireplace. I wasn't paying attention because we were working elsewhere in the house. When Dave (the mason) left on the last day, one of my guys came into tell me that Dave had wasted about 8 of our buckets with brick mortar. :bang: :complain:  :crap:
Ol' Dave's still alive, is he? :shake:

Well, Dave has two things going for him:
1. He's a buddy from way back, and
2. He is an exceptional mason.
So, he'll get a pass (just barely) :)

Dave, your last I-75 bucket story was the funniest I had heard in many a day, I am still telling people about that one. Obviously it made quite the impression on Adriana and Kurt as well.

Brick mason's never clean anything. At the end of the day they drop their trowel on the ground. That's the signal for the helper/tender/hod carrier to strike off the last courses set and go home. I had a friend out in Phoenix who cleaned his level by whacking it against the wall to knock the dried mud off it. ;)

I made a dash across the road one time for what I thought was an empty mastic bucket - I eye can spot the difference in a 3.5 vs 5 gal a mile away - and I love the 3.5's for wash buckets - anyway to my surprise I got a full never opened bucket of Tec Double Duty! A little road rash but no real damage.
I also have a partial tool box full of misc wrenches, screwdrivers, bungee cords, pocket knife & other things I have found on the side of the road - my wife & kids hate it when I stop for something in the middle of the road.
I have had a couple pickle buckets - I won't get them anymore - I can't stand the smell of pickled thin set or wash water.

I had stopped once to get a bucket, sent my helper out to get it since it was on his side. the opening was facing away from him, well he picked it up and looked in it dropped it jumping around.....someone left him a surprise and left it on the side of the road.

 eww - that would be bad!
Funny but bad :)
I always stop and or find tools and buckets on the road. Just from leaving our whs I have seen whole rolls of carpet pad, rolls of seam tape and buckets. Nothing real good but, If you are thinking of carpeting a room, those ruggers are in a rush and don't really tie things off in the backs of their vans.

I have a small commercial carpet project to install late next month. I will gain about 6 new buckets from carpet adhesive. I just fill up the empties with warm water, dishsoap, and cap them off with their lids. Take home and powerwash them out at my convenience. :D Hardly ever pitch out a bucket, have couple dozen or so all the time, but always seem to fill them up with various tools that I can never find. :bonk:

 Plastic bucket
ISO9001:2000 & ISO/TS16949
Abstract of EP0870690
The invention relates to a plastic bucket with a bottom and a standing peripheral wall connected thereto, on which peripheral wall an outward extending peripheral flange is present which connects to the peripheral wall at a distance from the mouth rim, which peripheral flange comprises a first flange part extending at least more or less transversely of the peripheral wall and, connecting to the first flange part, a downward extending second flange part with a first free end edge, on which second flange part are formed two handgrips placed mutually diagonally. Each handgrip is embodied as a cowl-like, outward protruding part of the second flange part, comprising a first handgrip part extending outward relative to the second flange part, a downward extending second handgrip part connecting to the first handgrip part and two support shores which are each connected to the second flange part and the peripheral ends of the first handgrip part and the second handgrip part, wherein the lower edge of the second handgrip part lies substantially in the plane of the lower free end edge. :uhh:

i get them from the bakery at the local supermarket the young girls clean them for me and all its the highlight of my week now i have so many they are always new in my truck and they are like mastic bucket size.
When you have an endless supply of buckets you lose respect for em, i no longer clean the thinset bucket i just throw it out and that pisses my boss of cause he likes the fact that i took the time to clean the buckets but thats all history

My mechanic lives across the street from a guy that worked for ~20 years for a company that does lines painting on the highway. This guy has washed, stored, and stacked something like 10,000 empty buckets that are leftovers from his work with the highway line striping contractor. According to my mechanic, this guy's basement is completely filled with buckets.
This dude is apparently looney-tunes, but not just because he saves thousands of buckets. I know I would if I could.
