JJ's undergoing cataract surgery next Wed.. She suggested that I lend her my digicam so she can have before and after photos, so everyone will know what a difference the surgery makes in her vision.
I said "yeah, OK", but she fell asleep before I could get off the floor. By the way, a good belly laugh is better than sit-ups anyday!!!
She's goin' to the hairdresser tomorrow to get her blonde hair touched up. Don't know if that has anything to do with the current situation or not. :D:D May be undergoing a withdrawal of sorts...
Then again, I may be moving tomorrow, if she gets wind of this... :D
My biggest worry is that once she has the surgery, and she can finally see me, I'll be moving out for sure!!! :)

Best of luck to JJ on her upcoming cataract surgery. Lots of new technology in laser surgery. I am going to have some eye surgery in the next few months for "Presbyopia". (sometimes called aging eye). If all goes as planned, I will no longer need my old peoples reading glasses.

I hate to say it buddy, but you're washed up. Better start packing. :D
Hope it goes well, Sonnie. That kinda stuff scares the bejesus outa me, but every single person I've known who's had the laser-type surgery has been exceeding happy with it. They've come a long way with that stuff.
Tell her we'll be rootin' for her. And maybe you aughta be easin' her into her new vision, kinda. You know, like reminding her looks ain't all that important in a relationship, and stuff like that. :D

"every single person I've known who's had the laser-type surgery has been exceeding happy with it"
You forgot about me Kelly. :(
Sonnie, best of luck to JJ. :)
Actually I didn't, Dave, I remembered that somebody on here had a less than wonderful experience, but I couldn't remember for sure who it was. And mostly, I just wasn't gonna bring it up. ;)
Have you seen any improvement, by the way. (Hey, I make pun, eh?). Or are you still sandy-eyed?

Sonnie, Kathleen had the same surgery 2 years ago never had the least problem. Sees better than ever. I can't tell her I gave her a $50 and slip her a $10 anymore tho. :p
As for you...well....you're doomed. :D

Cataract removal and LASIK are two different things, so JJ won't have to worry. Cataract removal is done so quickly and easily now, and the complications are very minimal in most cases.
Just keep the lights dim for a while, Sonnie. ;)
Best of luck to your wife Sonny.:)

I don't have a wife, but thanks for everyone's support. I don't steal her money, she doesn't steal my time. ;)
Actually, as freakish as she is with her health, medications, blah blah blah, we're both jumping out our skins to have this procedure done. She's been through a whole raft of crap with optho's in the past two years. FINALLY, we came down with the answer, and we'll have it taken care of next Wednesday. I've already gone to the local ummm, how to say... you know where they sell handcuffs and lingerie??? Found a great set of eye-blinds... I'm hoping maybe that by the time we get home, I can convince her that I'm my brother?!?!?! Hope my brother doesn't find out!!! :D
Thanks for everyone's support and good wishes. It's really a minor incident in these days. Tonsilectomy would be worse, except you get to eat all that ice cream ;). Still, I'm excited for her that her vision will be better... I'll just have to learn to stand off to her left... that will be her weak side :):)
John, you got an extra space in your garage? :D

Good Luck to your wife, your right they just zip them through anymore, very few people have problems. My wife does that type of surgery for a living, we could have worked out a deal, a couple of six packs or something. :D

Frank, wish I would have known... the clinic's getting 5K for 3 hours. Doctor's getting I think another 2K. Good thing she's got some insurance, but still a flight to Ohio would have been cheaper. Even if I bought expensive beer, like the stuff John drinks :D.

That's about what Kathleen paid for her cataract surgery.

Sorry, I got here late. Been busy lately. I shan't bore you with my activities.
Sonnie, how did it go? Do tell.
I've had surgery on each eye. A little more creative than the stuff we're talking about here, but I see good. Cami's right about the physics being completely different for lasik surgery, laser cataract surgery and initial cataract surgery.
My understanding is, for most people's cataract situations, they remove the exiting lens and insert a new one. Subsequently, when cataracts form on the artificial lens, they can only then use a laser to remove the buildup.
I am a fan of modern medicine, but this stuff makes me want to puke. I thought my wife was going to yak on me when the doctor had to remove the stitches in my eyeball
Hope JJ is fine. I know you'll be sweet to her. She'll get better fast. :)

So I have this Chinese laborer named Wong, who also went to the eye doctor last week.
The doc tells, him, Mr. Wong, I am afraid to tell you that you have a Cataract."
Wong says, "Oh no doctor you are mistaken, you see I drive a Rinkon."
Groan.
Had to do it Sonnie. Know it is in bad taste, but just had to do it.

Update. Everything went fantastic. I played nurse the first day. It's kinda like playing Doctor, except your patient sleeps all day, :D.
Now we've just got to get her prescriptions adjusted and it'll be cool. I'll have to say, tho' that the lense is really distracting from certain angles. Hope that changes. Makes it look as tho' she's got a flat spot on one eye, kinda like a reflector.

How's JJ?

Thanks Jim, she's doing really well. Still a bit of a red speck near the lens, but doc said it might take a few weeks 'cause it was a tough one. Still in all, prettiest blues I've ever known. We're both excited about the change in her vision.
Just yesterday we were sitting in the kitchen (where else ;)) and she saw this bird on the fence outside. She said excitedly " That bird's got EYES!!! ) Yep, she's doing just fine. Still blonde and all :D
That's good news, indeed, Sonnie.
'Specially the blonde part. :D

Sonnie, JJ,
Delighted for you both, just don't let her see the alumni album or you're really busted .
The devine M wants Lasik on her right, in which she is practically blind. +5 something or other. She is however leary, coz the media and the medics can't make up their collective minds. It seems that there is a new dissenting voice each week.
Anyone got suggestions?
My eyes are deteriorating fast, though my current prescription clears up the fine print real well and I absolutely refuse to learn to touch type.

Jeremy, don't know how things are in your neck of the woods, but we have at least two optho's in my area that have excellent and bona fide track records. I know the media are having a hay day with the subject, but they have to find something to write about.
As with hiring any professional, myself included, you could always ax for referrences that you could verify.
Damned shame it ain't cheaper, I'd have some work done my own self ;)
