I saw it with my son and we were not disappointed. A great movie. They filmed it in Chicago, so the city backdrop did not look hokey. Christian Bale and the rest of the all star cast were great, but an official "hat's off" to Heath Leadger for his performance as the Joker. It was chilling.

My son saw it with his friends. I definitely plan on seeing it this week.

The wife and I went to see it last night. We both liked it very much. Every time Heath Ledger was on the screen, my wife gripped my hand a little harder. I had heard from one reviewer that Ledger "moved through the film like the shark in "Jaws". I completely agree. Every time he was there I found myself anticipating something horrible, like "What's he going to do!?!". I had some problems with the direction of the rest of the film and I was disappointed with Maggie Gyllenhall in the movie. But a very solid film, all things considered.
Now, who got to see the trailers for "The Watchmen"? :clap1:

I enjoyed the movie very much. Heath Ledger did an incredible job as the joker. Definitely the best performance in the film.

I agree with you Shaughn about Maggie Gylenhall. Not so much for the acting just that she wasn't the right choice for the part. She is supposed to be the love interest and a few lines in the movie people talked about how beautiful she was. All I could think about when they would say that is how unattractive she is. She would of been fine if she was playing a different role. Bruce Wayne is showing up to parties with three models on his arm yet he wants her  .

Sean,
That's what romantic love is all about. :)

Considering the violent/evil level of the film, what age of average maturity child would be your cutoff for viewing?

Tom,
It's a LOUD movie, but it's not bloody. There are some very violent and dark themes but little, if any, gore. Not having any kids old enough to see movies (even G-rated ones) I can't offer any guidance except to say that if your kids saw "Batman Begins" then they can probably handle this one. The last "Mission Impossible" movie is probably less kid-friendly, depending on the kids.

I'm heading out shortly to see this flick at the nearby IMAX theatre. :D

:tup1: :tup1: I enjoyed it. Lots of good action. Ledger's performance as the Joker is a treat.

We just went to see this and Ironman on the weekend. Ledger is amazingly creepy as the joker, but that movie just left me feeling all oogy. It was good, but not something I want to see again. I liked Ironman better, my husband liked Batman better.

I wanted to comment on bringing kids - I wouldn't bring any child under 13 to either of the batman movies. I'm usually okay with most action/superhero violence, but when it gets dark like in the batman movies, I tend to think of it more as a horror movie. Both the Sandman and the Joker fit more into the serial killer mold. There are scenes in both batmans where the violence is truly disturbing, even though there is no blood. Whereas, say, Ironman is more good guys vs. bad guys.

I almost brought my 12yo boy. Decided against it and glad I did. Went with my 23yo son instead.

I saw it this evening, and was satisfied.

As an extra bonus, I enjoyed the familiar sights of Chicago. I caught glimpses of lower Wacker Drive, The Harris Bank, the Lyric Opera House, and the inside of the train station below Randolph and Michigan.
