No one will make a trade for him. Hes not worth the money for him to play a year or two. He will set a team back by not letting them work towards the future.

I say take him back and put his ass as a back up. All he's doing is screwing up the Packers future.

Never happen. The Packers don't have the balls to do that and Favre wouldn't accept a backup role. This is the third pre-season in a row in which we had to be distracted by this pompous moron.

Ya gotta feel for Aaron Rodgers. This guy has been patient and did everything he was supposed to do. I would love for him to declare; "the Packers are now my team".

I don't see why Green Bay won't trade or cut him as has been his request. The only thing I'm sure of is that he can't be the backup there. Until Rodgers goes out and wins a championship, every time he throws a pick or is even temporarily ineffective the demand to put Brett in will be overwhelming. That will hurt the team. They really should look to trade him to some team not named the Bears or Vikings. The pick they get in return is one more chance at hitting the lottery in the draft and its not sensible to pay 2 Quarterbacks starter money.

Yes, I plan fantasy football. I run my own Yahoo league called the Eagles Forum Fantasy League, for the members of Philly.com. A league here would be neat. It would be like taking candy from a child. :)

I don't know why a qb would want to switch to another team for a year or two. He won't get a superbowl with anyone else. It takes a while to learn a new system and develop the timing with your new recieving corps. He shouldn't of retired if he had doubts. He does this to Green Bay every year. The fans are going to lose all respect for him. I'm glad John Elway didn't do that after he retired. It was bad enough seeing Steve Atwater go to the jets for his last year. But that wasn't Steve,s doing he wanted to stay a Bronco and actually signed with them for one day before he retired just so he could go out as a Bronco.

I hear ya but look at all of the superstars who did come back from retirment. My favorite boxer was Sugar Ray Leonard. His greatest and most improbable win against my other favorite fighter, Marvelous Marvin Hagler, came after he was past his prime. You would have thought that would have been enough but he kept coming back until Hector Macho Camacho kicked his ass. That was painful for me because in my heart I knew that in his prime, Sugar Ray would have mopped up the ring with Camacho. I don't know why these guys can't just retire and find something new to fulfill their lives.

I don't know why these guys can't just retire and find something new to fulfill their lives.
For some (at least football players) it's probably all they have known since preschool. It's amazing how young they start playing organized sports.
I wish some of them would just retire while they still look decent. I still remember Bart Starr hanging on for several years past his prime and ended up looking like a broken, beat-up old man.
'Nough said! :gerg:

Leonard won because he pretty much ran from Hagler most of the night, though I certainly don't knock him for that. He would not have won any other way.

comments add this Brett Favre apparently won't be among the Packers showing up for the opening of Green Bay's training camp Sunday morning.
Favre told si.com that general manager Ted Thompson had asked him for "a couple of days" to resolve the situation.
"I agreed to do that," Favre told the site. "I don't want to be a distraction to the Packers, and I hope in the next few days we can come to an agreement that would allow me to continue playing football."
That agreement, presumably, would be a trade. The New York Jets and Tampa Bay Buccaneers have emerged as two potential trade partners for the Packers, and Favre told si.com that he would consider a trade to any team.

I couldn't possibly care less about all this foolishness but this joke came into my email and I thought I'd share...
God asks Peyton Manning first: "What do you believe?"
Peyton thinks long and hard, looks God in the eye, and says, "I believe in
hard work, and in staying true to family and friends. I believe in giving. I
was lucky, but I always tried to do right by my fans."
God can't help but see the essential goodness of Manning, and offers him a seat to his left.
Then God turns to Tony Romo and says, "What do you believe?"
Tony says, "I believe passion, discipline, courage and honor are the fundamentals of life. I, too, have been lucky, but win or lose, I've always tried to be a true sportsman, both on and off the playing fields."
God is greatly moved by Tony's sincere eloquence, and he offers him a seat to his right.
Finally, God turns to Brett Favre: "And you, Brett, what do you believe?"
Brett replies, "I believe you're in my seat."

lots of people in Tampa dont like Fave. there were talk show on the radio and on the news saying they were glad it didnt happen, then there are the bunch that likes him.
Suddenly, Brett Favre is the most famous Jet since Joe Namath.
That should give you some idea how the last 40 seasons have gone for the other team that plays in Giants Stadium.
It should also serve as notice of just how desperate the NFL's greatest unretired quarterback had become. From the beginning, this story has been about an athlete's mortality. Favre just couldn't accept his.
Earlier this week, Green Bay coach Mike McCarthy declared that "the train has left the station." For Favre, it had become a runaway train, set into motion by his brooding ego.
He says he's in it to win a Super Bowl. But agreeing to this trade — I don't care if the Jets spent more than the Department of Defense this offseason, they're still coming off a 4-12 season — proves otherwise. Favre's desire to return to the championship round was less than his fear of not playing while he still thought he could. Maybe he was loathe to acknowledge that winters in Mississippi aren't what they're cracked up to be. By the same token, he should've known that winters in East Rutherford haven't been good for the Jets, either.
Favre can forget about the Super Bowl now. He won't even win the division.

I was really hoping he would got to Minnesota. That way I could laugh at all the Bears fans around here because they would still be stuck with him in the same division. and they would have no shot of winning the divisoin with Farve and Peterson. Now my Broncos get to wipe the flor with him and the Jets on November 30th.

I'll bet anyone here that the Jets do not make the playoffs this year.
Foochacho
08-08-2008, 10:11 PM
The jets better hope they don't because they will lose a second round draft pick if farves takes 80 percent of the snaps and they make the playoffs. Farve will probally pull this crap again next year like he has for the past few years. So if they make the playoffs then they will lose Farve to retirement and a second rounder. If they make it to the superbowl they lose a first rounder but they don't have to worry about that.

Favre’s 6 TDs lead Jets past Cardinals 56-35
EAST RUTHERFORD, N.J. (AP)—Sore ankle and all, Broadway Brett joined Broadway Joe in the Jets’ record book.
Brett Favre set a career high and tied Joe Namath’s Jets mark with six touchdown passes, including three to Laveranues Coles, and New York took advantage of a series of mistakes by Arizona in a big second quarter before holding on to beat the Cardinals 56-35 on Sunday.
“Throwing six touchdown passes was awesome,” Favre said. “That had nothing to do with how I felt I played. It was one of those games. More importantly, I felt the overall game itself, I managed it well.”
Favre, showing no signs of a left ankle injury that hobbled him during the week, finished 24-for-34 for 289 yards and an interception for the Jets (2-2).
I dont get the uniform

Who Needs a Soap Opera When There Is Favre?
While much of the sports world sighed in exhaustion Monday over the latest stage of Brett Favre’s existential crisis — “Help me, I can’t stay retired!” — Vikings training camp morphed into Favre-a-palooza when the crisis deposited him there. Fans scrambled to catch a glimpse of the old warrior quarterback as he donned a purple helmet for the first time and his Vikings teammates — with the possible exception of the two quarterbacks unceremoniously dumped for an almost-40-year-old with commitment issues — all but bubbled over with glee.

If he wants to play and a team wants him, there's no reason to not pursue it. Your time on earth passes far too quickly to say, "you gotta stay retired".
:)
And Brian, as a reminder: You either need to give credit to the authors of the articles you're "cutting and pasting", or insert links to them. Otherwise you're inferring that they are your own words. :)
I hope the Green Bay players destroy Brett.
I'm looking forward to his next teary eyed retirement speech. Get one every year now.

Its not like Farve left Green Bay Jason. The Packers, as is their right, decided Aaron Rodgers was their best bet. They have no right to insist he retire just because they decided that another Quarterback would be better than him. Besides, you know when its FINALLY time for him to hang up the spikes for good there will be a one day contract with the Packers.
