Phil Gramm,says the recession is in our heads.Hmm,and some people say those in govt. are outta touch, with their lobbyist money,nice paychecks,best health ins. in the country,their own underground shuttle,barbers,self voted pay raises,almost limtless travel vouchers,(they get gas reimbursements)golden parachutes into the corporate world after public service...did i miss anything while whining?

Meh, I believe that every time the R word is used on TV or the radio someone who could afford to have their bathroom remodeled decides to wait. It almost becomes fashionable to put it off, and that ain't good for us. So to some extent Gramm has a point.

one of the guys laughed on MSNBC this a.m. saying.
in the 30's we had soup lines and these days we have Apple iPhone lines.

One does not have to be an economist see this coming. The talking heads are making it seem worse than it is and hastened the cooling off of an overheated economy.

CNBC put some numbers up briefly late yesterday that were interesting. If I recall correctly, it was something like this.
- the S&P 500 was down 18% in the 2nd qtr
- take out the financials, and the S&P 500 was UP 8% in the same period.
- overall, the they were projecting that 73% of all reporting companies will beat earnings this period.
- instead of bread lines, we have iPhone lines.
the sky is not falling. :shake:
(actually, I added the iPhone thing - but it's true! :yeah: )

you watch CNBC like me, I laughed when i heard the guy say it in the morning show the day the iPhones came out.
he said :
"in the 1920's we had soup lines during the recession,
today we have iPhone lines during a recession...haha"
