yeah, the apologists are trying claim it was a dirty trick - prolly Karl Rove. :D Guess they're hoping we'll just forget that Jackson has made a career out of being in the media and shoulda known better. I actually wonder if it was an "accident."

Stonerman,
I heard about it from those wing-nut hyper-conservaqtives over at "NPR". Of course they actually explored the reasons behind Jackson's bitterness, instead of just replaying the sound bite. Seems that many social academics believe that African-Americans, especially of Jackson's generation, are having a difficult time with Barack Obama's candidacy because they've invested so much of their lives, and defined who they are, by vilifying "The Man". Now that "The Man" might potentially be revealed to be "one of them" they are having to confront "the comfortable scapegoat" and the "dream of equality", which many thought would always be untenable. Might be also that Jackson's just a bitter publicity whore who feels entitled to the place in history which Obama has been seated? Look at Ted Stevens' Senatroial tantrums to see Jackson's white Republican counterpart.

But we (are) talking about a reverand.

Kathy Griffin was recently ordained and she's got an immense potty-mouth. Being ordained in no way qualifies your character or your sanity. It's not an appointment "by God", it's just a piece of paper that anyone can carry around with them. Heck, some don't even bother with the paper. Mid-wives and massage therapists have to get more accreditation for their professions than does a "reverend".

Pirate said: Mid-wives and massage therapists have to get more accreditation for their professions than does a "reverend". then it occurred to me that all three professions practice 'laying of hands'.... just on different parts of the body :---)

Dave,
With regard to the Revered, which part of the body does he have to Lay on hands" to get to your wallet? :)

Not really.....I know of lots of preachers who laid hands on the parts reserved for the mid-wives and massuse's. They usually make the news too!
