Thanks to many here for help with my slate bath and shower project. It looks like the shower were cut right from the walls of the Grand Canyon (OK, I embellished...but it looks great).

I used 3 coats of Stone Enhancer Pro, and remember someone (either here or at the online store) telling me not to use Tilex, etc. for routine cleaning. At 1 month, we don't see any scum build up, but want to know whats the best product for monthly (or so) clean up of soap build up.

We carefully hose the shower off each time, but am looking for maintainance advice.

Use any neutral cleaner for regular cleaning, plus maybe a nylon brush, and occasionally use a soap scum remover,if needed, and rinse well.

I've heard that liquid and jell type soaps do not have the propensity of building up scum as bar soap does.

This may sound dumb, but what is a "neutral" cleaner?

I do use the gel soaps, but I want to start out right and not mess up the finish.

Neutral cleaners are cleaners that are not chemically alkaline nor acidic. They are ph neutral. Both acids and alkalines have their place, but either one is harmful if used too often on stones, which in general are alkalines. Most of the chemical companies,Dupont,Aquamix,Stonetech(which you can buy here) have their own line of cleaning supplies, just look for the term neutral.
