I have just had ubatuba granite countertops installed. I have noticed two things that I am worried about: 1) When I look at the countertops from an angle with the light shining on it - I see many very small scratches or pits. I do not know if this is normal? I don't know if the countertops were not polished enough - don't have the correct sealant or what. 2) When water gets on the countertops - it turns "dark" for a few minutes.
I am very dissatisfied with the company that I purchased the countertops from. I wanted to get the opinions of this forum before talking with them.
Thanks in advance for any opinions/advice!

The pits are fairly common, and the scratches if they are fissures, or veins are also common.Hairline scratches or swirls from polishing of course are not. Some granites are filled with resin to remove fissures and pits(places where specks of minerals fly out while polishing),some say it's good, some not, seems your company didn't resin,no biggie. You need to seal the granite with an impregnating sealer if it's darkening, but if you're going to have the installation company do some work on it, seal it after they are done.

Dave pretty much said it...it all seems real normal to me. Uba Tuba won't have to many fischers because of the type, the scratches, well....granite scratches and soon enough you will have many you can call your own! It does need to be sealed for sure, it will probably take a couple coats usally the slab shop does that but there are those guys that skip that step. If you drop water drops on the suface they should ball up and practically roll off if it is sealed correctly. good luck, craig

Can you recommend a sealant to use with Ubatuba?
Thanks!
