Do any of you use or recommend a certain floor planning software. I'm still doodling on graph paper which is fine when I'm sitting outside but I'm thinking I need to upgrade to some real stuff. Free would be great but am willing to drop a few bucks, say less than $50.

here is a basic one here: http://www.laurelcreeksoftware.com/12001/index.html
only $24.95

the pro is $239.00 and has a ton more.

I'm sure there is some free Shareware CAD stuff out there.

Sorry, I guess I should clarify. I'm looking for a design tool for the floor plans of a house not a tile floor. I have John's book for the floor. :)

you might check out Punch (http://www.punchsoftware.com/full_store.html) or IMSI (http://www.imsidesign.com/Default.aspx?base). Punch seems to have more in your price range, though I haven't used them. IMSI has free trials (time-limited) and 30-day MBG (which they will honor, no questions); don't know about Punch.
