Help! What was I thinking? I used a steel scrub pad on my dark floor tiles in our foyer.( attempting to remove flecks of dried paint) Looked great wet, now it looks dull and scratched! The tiles are 12X12 mottled looking dark blue, not shiny. Can I apply an enhancer or sealer to make them look better? I know you're not supposed to ever wax tiles. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Hi -
What kind of tile are they? Marble or granite can be repolished but if they are ceramic or porcelain there may not be much you can do.....

They are porcelain, although they have a slight texture to them. They look even worse today- like old, worn denim jeans! Is there anything I can do?

Since most porcelains are non absorbent an Enhancer may not be the best bet....
Can you capture the way these tiles look and post a picture for us to see? That would help a lot...

George,
Sorry, I can't post a photo. Maybe I'll give an enhancer a try? It can't hurt!
Thank you for your input.

I wouldn't bother with the enhancer it'll only make it worse. What kind of steel scrub pad, i've seen people scrub with a wire brush that didn't even faze porcelain?

Hi there,
Since it looks good wet, there is a chance a color enhancer may work. To know for sure, you need to be willing to test. I'd try an inconspicuous spot.
Another method is to use something like mop 'n glo. These topical products have to be maintained. This means stripping and reapplication.
Once last thought, is it possible the floor needs a good cleaning, scrubbing, and rinse? Mine does. :D

Thanks for your replies. I used a steely coil thing that can be used on pot and pans. Yesterday I got on my knees and washed and dried it using a mild cleaner and it doen't look as bad. Maybe I'll try the Mop'N Glo!

Also, when cleaning, a wetvac is useful for getting all the refuse off, which is typically whitish gray.
