Hi Frank and Welcome Aboard!
Many stones need to be sealed as does the grout in a tile installation. What the guy at Lowes recommended will work for your application.
Anytime you clean a stone that has been treated with a sealer, clean it with a product that is designed to work on sealed stone or masonry. Using the wrong cleaner can rip all the sealer out of the stone very quickly....
Porcelain tiles are generally non-absorbent and do not need to be sealed...

Hi Frank,
Normally Tan/Brown and porcelain tiles don't need to be sealed. Just cleaned thoroughly.
The grout itself between the tiles will be the only items that would benefit from the application of an impregnating sealer.
Hope this helped :)
