For you product specialists, how would an enhancing sealer stand up to moderate heat in a hearthpad installation? I have some nice figured honed slate that would look even better with a sealer/enhancer, but I'd be worried it might discolor anywhere near the woodstove that will be set on it.

I personally don't know how much heat sealers can withstand, maybe George knows, but i've never seen one fail around a fireplace.

I'll take that as a vote of high confidence. I'll let you know this winter when/if it ends up looking like sh*t:)

Thanks George, I don't care for gloss anyway- just enhancement of some of the nice figuring in this honed/
semi-polished slate.

George, Is Dupont's Stone sealer line the same as Stonetech's? (the containers look very similar) I can buy the Dupont line around here but not ST.

Similar but not the same... the DuPont Stone Care line at Lowes was launched as our "Consumer" line aimed at the homeowner DIY'er. More friendly, no solvents, etc.... The StoneTech Pro remains the professional level of product and stays exclusively in the Stone and Tile Distributor channels. The Enhancer Pro product for the hearthstone is not available in the consumer line however the Lowes line does have a waterbased Enhancer...

But we do shop for bottles together ... cheaper by the dozen etc.... :)

Miracle Seal & Enhance I was able to pick up locally says it has a shelf life of 12months, the bottle has a thick layer of dust on it and I wonder if it's already more than 12months old? When I proceed with application is there anything I should look for to determine if it's ok? How long after grouting should I wait to start the application? Thanks.

Trevor -
Call Miracle about the shelf life issue and what to watch out for... They may have a date code or such on the bottle...
