Hello Everyone,

We purchased a Martha Stewart Grand Isle outdoor furniture set. It has tile insets in both the table and a buffet table. The tiles measure 20 inches by 20 inches and on the underside of the tile, it says summit. Nothing in the literature or searching the MS website gives any clue if these tiles are already sealed and with what product.
My question is, what would you suggest to put a "wet look" shine on these tiles. They are pretty as is but my husband likes the glossy look. You all mention a couple products in other posts, Glaze and Seal, Gloss and Guard, Stone Glamor, what is the difference in these products and what would you all suggest?

Thanks,
Scouter

Hi Scouter -

If the tile is a ceramic or porcelain and its going to live outside, I would be cautious about applying a gloss topical coating. The impervious nature of ceramics and porcelains does not give the coating much to "hold on" to. Rain, moisture and temperature changes will all conspire to loosen the coatings and the posibility of flaking is great.
Topical coatings are not as hard or durable as the tile itself and are prone to scratching and abrasion.
My advice, avoid the potential headache and enjoy your tile the way it is... :)

Welcome, Scouter. :)

I'd listen to George. He sells them sealers for a livin' and if he suggests you don't need any it's likely to be true, eh? :D

Well then, let Mr. Scouter pewt high-gloss topical sealer on them tiles and see what they look like next year at this time. :shades:

That way Mr. Scouter will be unhappy and better educated. :D

My opinion; worth price charged.
