Help - Contractor grouted with Mapei Kapoxy grout and the newly installed honed marble basket weave tile bathroom floor turned from carrera white to grey and the little dots went from grey to dark grey/black. What went wrong? He says grout sealer darkens when applied. What can be done to bring back the actual color? Thanks

Mapei does not recommend Kerapoxy with white or translucent marble. They do offer Opticolor, which is like an epoxy and safe on stone. Other things to consider for light colored stone installations – white thinset, penetrating sealer (non-enhancing) before grout and grout color closely matching the marble.

Jonthan's right...what can be done? Well you might try an epoxy haze remover follow directions, if that doesn't lighten it up it's over.Same goes for enhancing sealers they are permanent.I'm afraid the tile guy made a mistake if he used epoxy grout on white stone.

OK worst fears realized. Thanks  What if I decide I can live with the darker gray carrara look rather than tear out and start over. Does he use the correct grout for the final grout and then seal the tiles as well? Seal with what type of sealer? What is the difference between enhancing and non-enhancing?
What a great resource you are. Thanks

Help again. I am the one with the epoxy grout on carrara marble tile. I decided I can live with the grey so painter put Porous Plus sealer on marble and now the surface is sticky. I think he did not wipe off excess. Can anything be done now? Thanks for your help. Kelly R

Kelly, Porous Plus is a solvent and can be reapplied, allow to dwell for a few minutes and hopefully (:goodluck:) will buff off with a clean rag. If not, check with Miracles customer service. :D
