I love tumbled marble and wish to install it in a my bathroom shower and floor. My concern is that I will not be able to clean the soap scum and hard water deposits that inevitably build up over time. I am also concerned about possible mildew and the inability to use bleach on tumbled marble. Is there a way to thoroughly clean this stone? Am I asking for trouble with tumbled marble? My family is not the type to wipe down the shower after every use... or even every 10th use!

It can be cleaned with stone soap scum removers and a little brush, but porcealin would probably be a better choice for you.

Thank you for responding. :yipee: Seems like it is cleanable, yet you think tile is a better idea. Can you elaborate?

Most 'tumbled stone' we see out west here is limestone or sandstone. Both are very porous and require much more maintenance than other types of stone or tile. Most projects I see, the designers will put 'tumbled stone'-looking tile in the immediate 'wet' areas or a complementary tile and use true tumbled stone in the floor and wainscot areas. Think water absorption and mold & mildew problems without adequate cleaning and drying. However, if you have a good reliable maid or house-cleaner who cares -right!

no maid... no housekkeper. I guess I better stay with porcelean. Thanks you for the info.
