Hi all long time lurker first time poster thanks in advance for the help
Here is my problem. I have a shower niche in my new shower. It is 1/2" too wide after I installed the CBU (easyboard) and applied 2 layers of RedGuard (reinforced with fiberglass mesh tape). The problem is I built it for a different sized tile then we decided to use. (well i did not decide this :-)
The tile we are using are now using is too small to fill the opening. I need to "make up" exactly 1/2".
My plan is to use 2 pieces (one on either side of the niche) of 1/4" hardie backer I have form the flooring project and thinset those to the existing redguarded niche walls then thin set the tile to the hardiebacker. does anyone see a problem with this, should I instead screw the hardiebacker in and "re-redguard" the sides. I would like to avoid this so as not to cause a vapor barrier sandwich.
THanks
Charlie
