Thought I'd start a thread for the catches of the year.
Rule 1. Use photos from this year only.
Rule 2. Excessive bragging and gloating allowed but you better back it up with a picture.
Rule 3. Sharing techniques, tips, and places is also allowed.

Caught this one on my way home from work today. Dead drifted a worm pattern on a creek near my house. Figured she was about 5 pounds. Let her go and hope to catch her again another day. :)

Go get him Bill !!!! I'm rooting for ya. :yipee: Just about anybody, even celebrities like Charlie, can catch big fish (or big game) with a guide. I'd like to see him go mano y mano with the local boys. Then see who talks smack.
The particular creek where this fish comes from has seen some 12-15 pounders come out of there. But you really got to know the water. Its all spring fed, the water is clear, slow moving, and the fish are finicky. I've seen guys fish it and never get a bite. Your fly has to be just right - pattern, size, depth, drift, speed.

I bet!! I've fished Provo Canyon, just below a dam, and I could SEE big trout just sitting there in the stream, from above the dam. I took my grandson down to the base and tried to catch em freedrifting some trout worms, and nothing. I got one hit, and that was it for the day.
Sometimes you're the windshield, sometimes, you're the bug!! :D
As for Charlie, I know someone who knows him personally, and from what I hear, he CAN flat out fish, as he says. That's okay. So can I. ;)

Its the river and some of the guys I fish with....Its that time of year!!!
Can't look at none of them sites y'all are linkin' there on accounta I'm on my cell phone connection our here in the Gila Natl. Forest.
Today was the very first time I'd have an opportunity to go up to see if there are any troutlings in the upper reaches of the upper forks of the Gila river. So I get a call tellin' me the road has been closed on accounta some crazy is apparently holding the road hostage and shootin' up the place.
I tole'em I drive pretty fast most of the time anyway and would be willing to take my chances since I didn't plan to stop anywhere in that area, but wasn't nobody listenin'. :D

Unfortunately, I think I'm gonna only fish outa OTHER peoples' boats for a coupla months, anyway. Motor's got a rod knock, and it'd cost me as much to overhaul the powerhead as it would to buy a much newer used motor! So I'm gonna save my pennies and dimes (make that 20's and 50's  ) an' see what I kin do.

so cx did u get to gila and how was the fishing :)
Well, I made it up to the Middle Fork of the Gila River without nobody even takin' a shot at me, best I could tell.
Really nice little piece of water. Very pretty. Definitely worth a backpack trip 'cept you gotta wear your wadin' shoes on accounta you gotta cross the river about a hunnert times in the first 2.5 miles, which is as far as I got. Coulda fished more if I hadn't walked so much, but I wanted to get a good look at the area.
Even caught a few small troutlings. Biggest wasn't but 'lebben inches, though. :(
I think that one Juan's got is a little bigger. :D
