The boss and I are considering relocating to Redding,CA in the future (unsure of timing). Anyway I would really like to have a conversation with a professional (tile installation, CX you have such a dirty mind) working in that area.
Are any of contributors to this forum currently working in the Redding Area?
I know that this thread has little interest to most folks, so if you are willing we could establish an e-mail dialogue or something.
By the way I am not planning on shaking up the neighborhood, maybe two jobs a month or so.
If you are out there I would appreciate talking to you.
Thanks, Mike

Hi Mike,
I don't personally know anyone in the Redding area, but I was at Coverings last year when Eric Ross Tile in Redding won the Tile Letter's Grand Prize for Commercial work. Every single joint in this exterior installation is silicone, if I remember correctly.
Best of luck with the move, if you go that way. I hear it's not pretty down there right now.

if I was designing the front of that building, I would have shifted the darker gray down one tile to flow with the lighter panel's of the balcony. :twitch:

There is a bad dog leg in that radius at top right. :)
Sorry, Mike. Why Redding? I mean you're in the best part of the West right now. :)

I started off my carreer in Redding 16 years ago. There are lots of nice
lakes around the area. Not sure about the current economy though.

We vacation, camp, raft and hike up there every year. Its hotter than hell up there in the summer, and you have to go West over the Trinity Mountains for relief. Not a lot of growth up there.
Weaverville is my favorite town up there, and is the County seat.

Why? Good question John.
My beautiful bride and employer is a Central Valley Girl - born and raised in Modesto, I lived in the Mojave Desert (Victorville) for many years. We are both fairly comfortable with the heat.
We have been up here for over 15 years. Bev is tired of the rain! I am tired of my wood shop looking like a storage area for rust!!!!
Not interested in moving so far South that we are dependent upon the Colorado River for water as I understand that it is rapidly disappearing.
We have one other wealthy friend (JB being the first) who has a winter ranch in Redding.
Have looked a Central WA, OR and Northern CA.
KINDA, MAYBE decided on the Redding area.
Anyway would still like to talk to a resident of the area.
Good to hear from everyone who responded.
Mike
PS: I understand "dog-leg" on a golf course - what the heck is dog-leg in the world of tile?
PS,PS: Looking forward to drinking your beer this Summer John - you could bring some "burro-piss" also if I can get Bev to drive.

wow, Victorville is in the middle on nowhere land.
I was out in Temecula a few times and drove back to Las Vegas and was thinking....who the heck lives out here?
I think Del Taco started out there or Barstow.
I love me a Del Taco:)

Modesto. Good God, man. You married a woman from Modesto?
Tell Beverly I'm just kidding if she doesn't read this for herself. :D
There is beauty everywhere; you just have to look for it. That's what I keep telling Patti about Houston. ;)
I have a sister who has been hunkered down in Sacramento for quite a while. We've gone through there the past couple of years on our way to the Northwest, and of course, we've passed through the Redding area. Lot's of wide open spaces out that way. The people who live there are among the friendliest in the world. :)
I hope if you guys are still in the Seattle area in late July you'll make one more trip over to Jerry and Patti Nebel's place in Ballard. Sure like to see y'all. ;)
