we recently had our kitchen remodeled. The floor wasn't covered and now has white stuff stuck in the grout. The tile is 3 yrs old and hasn't been sealed since it was originally applied (which I believe is definitely part of the problem). I have noticed over time that some of the chocolate brown grout has begun to get this grayish/dull look to it. I tried sulfamic acid. When it is wet or a few hours after the application.. it looks perfect. Once it dries over night, the grout returns to the hazy look without the specs of drywall stuck in it. Someone recommended that I use muriatic acid. But after reading several articles, I not really sure I would like to use something so toxic esp with a baby in the house. My question: is muriatic acid my next and only choice or can I use a sealer right after an application of the sulfamic acid to lock in the sealed look? If so, any recommendations on sealers. Please help I'm lost and confused.

Thanks,

Me

I think you need to try cleaning with a grout cleaner and a grout brush to get into the joints, and use a wetvac to remove the debris. You may have to clean it a couple times.Sealers aren't the answer they won't stop this type problem, you just need to clean the grout occasionally.
