I have a new install of 18x18 Rain Forest Brown marble floor. (Is it really a marble? One post thought it should be called a sandstone.) Got the grout haze off with some elbow grease, but it is still dull and blotchy. Which is really what the tile, right out of the box is like. It does not seem to come with much of a uniform factory polish. It seems to have hard and soft areas which each take a differnt polish. Anyway what product and technique has worked best for anyone with this stone, to even it out and get it looking good with sun shining on it. Do you think it would benefit from a polish with a marble polishing cream? Or, has anyone used a liquid acrylic high gloss sealer, etc. Don't really need a gloss, just an even finish...Thanks for any help...

Gary,
I don't think you are going to get an even finish with rain forest marble. I have used it (both green and brown) for accents in a floor and a bathroom backsplash. I even attempted to polish a piece with my diamond/buff pads and it doesn't come out with a uniform sheen. I believe it's the nature of the stone. You may try using an impregnator to seal it or an enhancer if you want to bring out the color, but further than that I know of no method or product to give the uniformity you may be looking for.

If it does have the soft and hard spots you definitely won't get an even polish, just the nature of the beast....but..there are acrylic like products that will give it an awesome shine, MB stone has some, check out this site...http://www.dirtygrout.com/forums/
