TSP question

I will be painting a bathroom. The first step will be to wash the walls with TSP. If TSP splashes on ceramic tile and grout is there any chance of staining or discoloration? Also, can TSP discolor brass plumbing fixtures? Thank you.

It's a high alkaline and can corrode metals, keep it off the fixtures.I would worry it may lead to staining of the grout, i would tape some thin cheap painters plastic over the tile.

I don't think it will harm your floor, but better safe than sorry. Davestone makes a good point: plastic is cheap, and easy to put down. Use it. As for the metal, you definitely want to keep it off by taping up all fixtures really well.
