We just bought two small countertops, 31x25 and 46x25,that we plan on installing as part of some built in cabinet/book cases on either side of a fireplace. The granite is Tan Brown. I have two questions....1. Would it be better/easier to seal it now as opposed to when it is in place, on top of cabinet under bookcase? 2. What type of sealer is best for this type of granite? I've read good things in this forum regarding the stonetech products but not sure which one should be used.
Thanks much,
Doug

Good news Doug, tan brown is very dense and won't absorb or require a sealer, it's a charkonite.

Dave thanks for the quick reply...so I assume charkonite is one of the other stones being sold under the "Granite" name? It seems to be fairly common, we found it at most if not all the suppliers/fabricators we visited. Glad to hear it won't require sealing....anyway what should we use to clean it or what other type of maintenance routine should we follow to keep them looking good?
Thanks again.
