We put up the 2x2 noce tumbled marble on our kitchen backsplash. We were told we didn't have to seal it prior to grouting. Well, we used a nutmeg brown for the grout and it stained our marble a pinkish/orangey tint. We are sick about it. Is there anything we can do to get that color off of the marble.

Hi Lori,
Please hang tight, somebody will be along. If there is a fix for it, you'll learn about it here. :)

Hi Lori, Welcome! :)
Since this is a tumbled marble, I suggest TESTing a small area with a 50/50 solution of vinegar and water. Prewet the surface with water, apply solution, agitate with soft bristle brush, and follow with a neutralizing rinse of 25-30% ammonia and water. Start from the bottom and work your way up.
BEWARE, the use of acidic cleaning agents on this stone may change the final appearance of the surface of the stone. Did I mention to TEST first? :shades: :)
It's a little late, but for those of you doing a diy project like this one, here's what you should use...

Vinegar is an acid, marble is acid sensitive. Tumbled marble is less likely to show the etching from the acid, but like doitright said, TEST. This one may be better left to a professional. Let me know if you need a list of pros in your area.

Hi az :)
Great suggestions, but unfortunately the problem originated from someone advising against the use of such products. :bang:
I also second the vote that the use a professional may be needed. Let's wait for the TEST results to come in. HG also makes a product to safely remove cement smears from acid sensitive stone.
