can anyone give any good suggestions???
we have uncovered an original quarry tile mosiac in the porch, due to movement in the house the floor slopes by about an inch. so to compensate for this some idiot retiled over the top using cement to level it off. this leaves us with about an inch of cement to remove off the quarry tiles. i have chipped off the majority and am now left with the bits that are really difficult to move. what is the best way to remove this cement without damage to the tiles

Depending if they used a latex thinset, you might keep the area soaked with water for a day or three, then use a stiff nylon bristle pad,or black stripping pad on a buffer after removing all you cak by hand, to get it off.If this doeesn't help i'd say hand scraping is the only way to avoid hurting the tile.Of course there's always the acid option too, soaking with sulfamic acid to loosen the thinset and keeping it wet then use the buffer idea.

Hi dxi8644, Welcome! :)

Could you share a first name with us? :shades:

Depending on the actual tile you have, you may be able to get more aggressive. The methods Dave suggested would be an excellent starting point though.

After a few posts, the forum will allow you to post a picture.

thanks for suggestions guys only it is very difficult to keep water or acid on top of cement as the slope is quite bad just end up with puddle in corner could really do with a gel type product

Hi dxi :)

You could also use an old beach towel to soak & hold the water.
