Previous owners repeatedly waxed the tile floors. The tile is a semi-glaze and has some texture so that the wax and grime seem to have penetrated into the tile. A maintanence man scraped off the thick layer of wax but the grime remains in the little indentions making the tile look like a bunch of people with muddy feet walked on the floor. We have tried several products to remove the grime but nothing seems to work. We have tried wax remover, ammonia, vinegar, draino, and even tried muric acid on a couple tiles.
Do you know of anything that will remove this grime from the crevices? Something that will loosen and lift the dirt off. We are desperate!

Typically alkaline cleaners, even Pine Sol will cut wax, and if you're sure you have it all off, i would think a degreasing cleaner and a buffer with a cleaning brush would do it.But the best wuld be a pressure extractor unit, typically tile grout cleaning companies use them.

Have you tried the Mr Clean eraser pads (in the sponge section of the grocery store) ? Every time I get grime that I can't remove these sponges really work!
