View Full Version : Tile Installers Retirement Fund
Just a thought:
If you had purchased $1000.00 of Nortel stock one year ago, it would now be
worth $49.00. :(
With Enron, you would have had $16.50 left of the original $1000.00.
With WorldCom, you would have had less than $5.00 left. :noid:
If you had purchased $1000 of Delta Air Lines stock you would have $49.00 left
But, if you had purchased $1,000.00 worth of beer one year ago, drank all the
beer, then turned in the cans for the aluminum recycling REFUND, You would have
had $214.00. :loaded:
Based on the above, the best current investment advice is to drink heavily and
recycle.
It's called the 401-Keg Plan

Jerry, I've contributed to that plan for years, and I fully recommend it. I can't seem to make any money at it, though. I like bottled beer. :D
But if you'd have invested your thousand bucks in Makita one year ago today, you'd have $1555.00 left today. :shades:
And that would buy a lotta beer. :D

and if you had invested in $1000 in Mechel Open Joint Stock Company (MTL) a year ago you would have $3791 today. Then you could buy afford to come to Canada and buy really good beer. :lol2:

Ken,
That program almost works if you buy your all beer in Indiana. Of course, that would be illegal. :shades:
Well, OK, Westie, if you wanna ruin Jerry's perfectly good beer thread..........I'll help ya. :yeah:
But I was tryin' to at least pick an industry-related stock, whereas you selected a Russian coal company. Now what's that got to do with tile? :shake:
And your weak attempt to link it with allusions to allegedly superior Canuck beer ain't likely to bail you out, neither. :D
That was a nice little stock gamble, though, if you actually bought some. :)

Dan,
I cans that are purchased in Indiana these days are different than cans in Michigan.. In Grand Rapids all stores that refund cans/bottles, have machines.. I was in indiana a few weeks ago and got some pop, and meijer (grocery store) rejected the cans..

OK CX, if you bought $1000 worth of Anheuser-Busch stock a year ago, it'd be worth $1,142 today. But you guys probably drink better stuff than Budweiser...
:D
So you're STILL better off drinkin' it!
Now, see, Michele, that's relevant! :D
But, truth be known, my mom doesn't let me drink any of that stuff any more, so I can't really testify about the current quality. :(
Sounds like the quality of the stock is OK, but certainly not anything ol' Westie would be interested in, even if he liked their product. :shake:

Now what's that got to do with tile?
Since when did the mud box have anything to do with tile?
And MTL is actually a steel company that also mines coal and has its own shipping ports.
And yes I did buy almost 800 shares of MTL but only about 6 months ago, so its only doubled and not tripled (yet).
Here are a couple more I bought a while ago: PBG.TO (better than MTL even) and VIP. I hope to drink lots of good beer when I retire. :lol1:
And speaking of beer have you ever tried Russian beer? Its quite good and you can even return the empty cans from it at the bottle depots here.

an oldie but still funny- NT is the only co still around and if you bought $1000 a year ago it would be worth $630 bucks - still not doing very well. :deadhorse
Aluminum has gone up in the mean time :clap1:

Westie is pushin' commie beer???? :wtf: :suspect:
I heard that a Ruschinsky beer outfit had taken over America's Bisquick company and that they now manufacture a beer product called Pissquick.
A large part of my retirement fund plans is based on a-winning the lottery.
Pissquick

Just an update for you CX, MTL is now at $149 up 60% since I told you about it 4 months ago.
I'm going to be drinking a lot of good (Canadian) beer for a while. :lol1: :lol1: Except for next week, I'll be drinking Rum on the beach in Varadero. :yipee:
