Doesn't kind of make you wonder about (1) how such a little girl could shield her much larger mom and (2) how mom could let her daughter stay "shielding" her long enough to take six bullets? Most moms I know would swing her around to protect their child.
It's pretty amazing though that both took shots to the head and aren't seriously injured...

He needs to be cleansed from our society.
"Most moms I know would swing her around to protect their child"
Mom was outside the car, and the girl was in the back seat. I don't think mom could do anything about it.
I do think mom could have had better sense than to date a 4 time convicted felon though. Especially with her 7 year daughter around.

You are so right. That Mother showed very poor judgement by dating that man.

Matt - they were both in the back seat. Her friend was the one going back & forth into the gas station. FWIW
She said she pleaded with him but he pointed the gun at her and shot her in the side of the head. She told police she was shot in the arm as she lunged at Tillie.
Before Tillie could fire again, Alexis jumped over the seat between her mother and the gunman and begged him not to shoot her mother.
You're right Michele, sorry.
I guess I got confused with all the people involved. The police reports that only refer people involved by their last name doesn't help either.:)

If'n we ever find out..It is unfortunate that the one state that really needs the death penalty, does not have it.
Child abusers / child killers tend to get theirs, lets hope that jailhouse justice prevails here with this scumbag.

Too bad we can't send him to Texas, Shooter.
That guy at least needs to STAY in jail the rest of his life. Anyone damaged enough to shoot a little girl six times cannot be allowed in society.

If this happened in Texas, the peace officers down there may very well have averted the entire following judicial process and saved the taxpayers a lot of money. Too bad this wasn't the case.

They were going to a birthday party at midnight... Another good reason little kids should stay tucked safely in bed at that hour.

Life without parole is just not sufficient to keep predators from doing the things they do.. They just look at it as, Oh well, 3 meals a day, healthCare, all the lawyers I need, and Tv - it's as good as it gets...
Unfortunately, a lot of kids get hurt because their parents exercised poor judgement...
