So I've been a long time lurker and very active member for the last few weeks. I've been trying to find a site related to PLUMBING Help -- As good as this one is for ceramic and stone!

I have a problem and i'm hoping one of you guys would be able to either A. help me or B. point me in the right direction.. I hope. :goodluck:

----

So i'm sitting in my office tonight going over some paper work and the wife screams "KEN! Come to the kitchen quick!" .. Dang dishwasher is backup full of water.. so full its leaking out the door!

Equipment: Frigidaire Ultra Quiet III

I suspect the drain pump has gone bad! I'm unsure of the actual age of the unit, it was already here when we bought our "new to us" home. I have a garbage disposal that the drain line from the dish washer runs to; YES the plug is out and the unit has been draining FINE for the last year we've owned it. We are also very considerate of having NO waste on the dishes when they get washed... we rinse them well!

I know this may be a bit of a stretch but i'm hoping something will come of me posting this here. :)

Hope everyone had a good thanksgiving,

Ken

If you don't get help here, Ken.... try Terry Love's plumbing forum HERE (http://www.terrylove.com/)

Hi Ken,

I second Dave's Terry Love recommendation. But, there are some pretty knowledgeable folks here who might be able to help.

I would check that drain hose first to make certain that it is not clogged.

Hi Ken,

I've used this board many times for appliance repairs: Appliance Service Techs (http://servicetechhelp.com/cgi-bin/discus/discus.cgi)

They have a great Ask a Pro section. Just get your make and model information ready for them.

:goodluck:

Ken, first here is a link to a forum thread that has an exploded view of your dishwasher innards: http://www.homerepairforum.com/forum/appliances/2502-frigidaire-ultra-quiet-iii-dishwasher-whistling.html

Ck'd appliance repair book, here's what it say:
Sympton: Poor water drainage
Possible cause:
Air gap clogged
Spray arm or filter screen clogged
Drain Hole blocked
Drain valve Solenoid faulty
Timer faulty
Pump impeller clogged or broken
Reversing motor doesn't reverse.

Now I don't know if you have all of those things but the only one that says call for service is "Pump impeller clogged or broken". All the other symptoms say to ck or inspect that part.

Good luck, Pat

If the dishhwasher is overfilling it is not a problem with the drain system it is a problem with the fill system. The dishwasher will have a float valve that is supposed to shut off the water when a certain level is reached. Check the float switch and also the fill valve to ensure they are operating correctly.
