View Full Version : stone chimney work

i've been asked to re-mortar the joints in a flagstone chimney. the original builder didn't strike them and the owner doesn't like the "crunchy" look and also thinks its allowing water in (minor leakage). its flashed correctly and the chimney cap is good, too. either way i'll be knocking the old mortar out and redoing it. what is a good mix for this, and should i use an additive? thanks in advance. brent

I would just use a grout bag with masonry morter or spec mix. :yeah:

I think an additive would make it hard to tool it .
