I just laid 900 sq ft of slate. I sealed it with 511 Miracle's Seal and Enhance.
The floor looks great for a few days after I put the Seal and Enchance on then get's rather dusty looking. I mop it with dish soap and water or I tried a swiffer wet jet, when it dries there are streaks all over it. I have to walk around the entire floor with a towel and wipe it down (then it looks great but it's a ridiculous amount of work for daily cleaning). What can I use to keep it from streaking and to make it look "enhanced". I've put 3 coats of the Seal and Enchance on it. I need a good daily cleaner that is a once step process, like mop and clean the mop kind of thing. Any ideas?

Hi eckling :)

Eckling sounds weird, do you have a first name you go by? :shades:

Does the floor darken when you put water on it? If so, you may need additional sealer. Depending on the slate you have, you may also need to consider a different type of product to apply to the surface to make it more manageable.

As far as maintenance cleaners, I suggest Stone Tech All Purpose Cleaner. Get the concentrated version. Properly mixed, it should leave a streak free surface. I do not suggest soap and water or the wet jet for daily maintenance. Vacuuming, dust mopping, or dry Swiffers are recommended.

Hi,
Yes it does darken when it's wet. I've sealed it 3 times, is it possible that it needs more? I bought the slate in Home Depot, the cheap stuff, I think it's probably from India or China. It looked great before I put any of it down and then grouted it and sealed it. It looks awesome right after sealing. I just watched a video for the STone Tech cleaner and it sounds like what I need. I'll buy some.
What would you suggest I put on it now if you think I need another sealer?
thanks, Elayne

Hi Elayne :)

You can start using the cleaner immediately. If the slate is still darkening, you'll more than likely need several more applications of sealer. You may want to consider purchasing some Impregnator Pro with your cleaner. If not, ask for a sample and do a TEST.
