Hi guys!

The tile was put in my soon to be finished "Man Cave" (Theater Room, Cigar Lounge, Wet Bar, and Bathroom) about a week ago. I went with 6"X6" porcelain tile in the shower, 16"X16" porcelain tile in the Wet Bar floor area, and 12"X12" porcelain tile on the bathroom floor. I've read NUMEROUS threads here about what sealer to use for sealing the grout with porcelain tiles.

As I understand it, only the grout should be sealed and not the tiles, as they are in the impervious class. Right?

Also, I have a Home Depot nearby. Is the quality of sealer a box store offers compareable to the StoneTech Heavy Duty grout Sealer? Maybe I should just play it safe and get the StoneTech sealer huh?

Thanks guys!

Dale

Yeah, you can get 511 from HD and Aquamix from Lowes, or Stonetech from here. :tup2: My son is a deputy, and has been taking classes for corporal, they just spent an intense week in autopsy and mass murder class. :D

Thanks for the reply Dave! So the 511 is just as good as the Stone Tech?

How long has your son been a LEO? I'll have 11 years in next month...

511 is top notch stuff. Yes only the grout joints need sealed. Don't let sealer dry on the tile. Wipe if off. If it dryes on the tile and you notice it you can put a little more sealer on it and then wipe up with a white rag right away.
I would put a couple coates of sealer on the first time. That first coat is going to soak in real quick.
Good Luck

Thanks Jerry! I'll make a run to HD and get the 511.

Soon the "man cave" will be complete and I can bask in the glory!!!

He's in his second year,he's at the county lock up, and wants to go into Fish and Game,he just turned 21 a few months ago,and has to stay at the jail for 2 years before doing anything else cause they sponsored his training.

So he got sentenced to 2 years huh? :D

I know what it's like. I did 2 years as a Corrections Officer at our jail before I was commissioned. Hopefully if he gets the stripes, he won't lose them if he goes to patrol...

He won't lose the corporal but would lose the seargent,so he's safe we think. He'd start out on regular road, then try to go wildlife which is state,so a total segway. He's the boating 4wheeling type. :yipee:
