Bought a 99 Ford F350 turbo diesel for my birthday. Its got an aftermarket chip and exhaust. Plenty of horsepower to drag my tools around and all the tile I need. Alot better than the family suburban. Shouldn't have a problem of hauling the camper or horses either. :)
I'm interested in swapping out the chip for one of them adjustable ones. I am also thinking of swapping out the air cleaner for a K&N. Any suggestions from you Ford owners?
Congrats on your 'new' truck, Juan!

as there are alot of good knowledgeable folks there (at least on the Ranger forum I watch.)
I drive a Dodge Diesel and had a K&N filter on it for a while. I think it got me about a 1/2 mile per gallon better mileage but I heard that the oil that you put into the filter isn't good for the turbo. Also heard that the K&N doesn't catch the real fine dirt, it gets thru. I took it off after hearing all that.
In case you don't know, the filter has two cans that come with it. A cleaner and an oil. You spray the cleaner into the filter and wash it out with water, let it dry and spray the filter with oil. :)

I get 15 MPG out of that 7.3. Sometimes a little more or a little less. It would be nice if I could get just a few more MPG out of it.
Thanks all for the info.
Hell, Juan, I can't do much better than that with my slightly-less-than-4.0-litre six-cylinder in my 2005 Toyota Tacoma! Talk about your gas pig.
Did you roll over your old truck, too? :D
21-22 MPG with my 02 Dodge, it does have a 6 speed standard. 218K miles and I've never had to add any oil between oil changes. My dad has the same truck with an automatic and his gets 20-21 mpg.

Must be nice to get such good gas mileage  I haven't been able to reach 15mpg from my '04 F-150. Between it and the van I could buy a new sports car with what I spend on gas every month.
