For anyone who follows politics and divorces, this case is a gem.

David Hager is a evangelical born again Christian who heads up the Federal Drug Administration Advisory Committee, and is a licensed doctor, a Kentucy obstetrician.

During his confirmation hearings he was villified for his staunch evangelical views, especially when he opined that women do not need drugs to ease menstral pains, they merely should read the scriptures.

His public evangelical views clashed with his private life this year when he was divorced, and his wife alleged that he repeatedly sodomized her without her consent while he prescribed her several medications to have her sleep more soundly.

Hager does not deny the anal rape occurred, and instead called it a "mistake."

I don't know about you guys, but I would like to think that a doctor, especially an obstetrician, knows the difference between a woman's front door and back door, especially his wife's.

If you want some fun, google" Hager, anal rape FDA Davis" or some combination of those for some outlooks on this hypocritical horse's ass.

Took some vivid imagination to type in those words and perform a search on them... :wtf:

Not sticking up for the guy but it isn't as clear cut as Scooter mentions. From Wikipedia (I know, not always accurate)...

To The Nation, Hager responded "My official comment is that I decline to comment", but in his local newspaper, the Lexington Herald-Leader, Hager stated "As I said before, the allegations as stated do not reveal all of the information and therefore they're incomplete and not true. No one likes to be criticized, no one likes to be torn apart privately or publicly and I think that it's disappointing that my former wife has chosen this avenue to vent her anger and bitterness."
Sounds like a denial to me.

My previous post shouldn't be construed to mean that I either believe or support the guy or that his appointment by Bush was a good idea. Quite frankly, it really doesn't even matter now. Maybe when he was actually appointed and serving but this is very very very old news....

Over critics' objections, Dr. W. David Hager was successfully appointed to the FDA Reproductive Health Drugs Advisory Committee in December 2002 (though not as chairman, as some had expected) and reappointed in June 2004 to serve an additional year.

I've never thought a refusal to comment was a denial. I mean if I was accused of a thing like that, and didn't do it (its not a crime that I know of), I'd deny it.

Indeed by not denying the facts, I construe his statement as admitting the facts.

I was poking around last night on this and found a quote attributed to Hager than he said something like "mistakes were made," hence my statement. I can't find the source right now.

Whether he said it or not, I find the hypocracy overwhelming of an evangelical ultra religious guy going up the hersey highway with an unconsenting wife. He is a card carrrying member of the "God Hates Fags" group, too.

If you want to talk the talk, then better walk the walk.
