His bio is running on the History Channel right now, if you missed it I'm sure it will be on again.
He has long been one of my favorite Presidents, and not just because he was from L.I., man had cojones.
I have been wondering over the last couple of years what he would have done about the oil company mergers that occurred during Clinton's administration. He broke up the Rockerfeller, Carnegie and Morgan Trusts. Built the Panama canal (can't wait to hear JC on that) Expanded National Parks (230,000,000 acres). Settled a crippling coal strike when a President had no authority to do so.
Great man, people loved him.

Today, Teddy would probably be considered a Liberal Democrat. He was pro woman's vote, minimum wage, shorter work week and better living conditions among other things. Wanted a "Square Deal" as he called it for the average working man. His cousin FDR used many of his ideas.

It's really interesting what time does to places and events...and people some times.
Couldn't help but notice how everyone referred to President Roosevelt........."Teddy ??"
I happen to believe that he was one of our most forthright presidents. He let his actions speak. But one thing that he didn't let happen was allow anyone to call him "Teddy." He required everyone to call him Theodore--if you happened to be on a first name basis with him. He abhorred "Teddy" and corrected anyone who had the audacity to call him by that name.
Now, everyone does it.....no disrespect intended I know, but....go figure.:crap:

Guess I've had my head in the sand (or someplace else) for the past couple of days. Didn't see this thread. I did, however, watch the biography, which I thought was quite good. Teddy Roosevelt has always been one of my heroes.
I read something a few years ago about the women in his life which delved into his childhood quite deeply. He was a sickly little guy who set out to show the world (and himself) that he could cut the mustard. Great man, no question.

Hobbit, John called him Teddy all the time, except in front of others then it was Mr. President. :D

Yeah, I know.....:)
I guess its alright as long as he's not around to correct yo ass.;)
Me, I can't see callin any president anything ceptin what he wants to be called. And in the case of President Roosevelt, if he wants to be called Theodore, then that's what I'd call him.
Good man. Ruff Rider too.:)
