No kidding. Is that the difference between college education, v.s, " who needs college, I'll go into the tile business, there is good money there". :)

I just got back from a trip to Florida today. It seems like the whole state of Michigan was on the road with me. Stopped in Chattanooga on the way down, and Nashville on the way back. I liked what I saw in Chattanooga; it seems like a town on the rebound. Nashville was as nice as I remembered.

Have a fellow here in town that told me I needed a vacation. Told me he had a cabin up in Colorado near Pike's Peak he'd let me stay a week at in mid May If I would only install a vinyl remnant he bought for the bathroom there. Should take about 1/2 to 3/4 of a day to underlay, lay vinyl and reset stool. Rest of the week is for fishing, relaxing, and site seeing. Wife has 1 week off from college between the Spring Semester and Summer classes so she's excited to go too. Just hope we don't get another bout of this fridged cold next month there.

First vacation in over two years and now get to stay in a cabin in the Rockies for a week almost for free! :yeah:

There was a bar like that at our honeymoon hotel. I remember it well.

Just got back last night. Only problem with this vacation was that it ended. Told Bobby he needed to make more money so I can be a house frau. This working stuff stinks.

Seriously, Bobby loved riding the bike trails. Said they were great. We spent time with old friends. I walked every day and yes Molly went with me.

I'm headed out to Hatteras, NC this Sunday for a week's stay, provided that tropical storm Dean doesn't alter my plans.

Was just in San Francisco last weekend. Had a great time with a friend who started out as a customer. Shaughnn also gave me a great list of restraunts to try, got to try Pasta Pomoboro. A local chain but great Eye-talian food. If you go to SF try and get to the House of Prime Rib.

Haha - that's my husband's favorite Italian standby (Pasta Pomodoro). He drags me there almost every Sunday! Sure beats cooking, and it's one of the more reasonably priced places out here.

I'll be signing off in a bit. I'll be catching a flight so early that I'll be changing planes in Chicago before the sun is up. I'm really hoping I can find someone to sell me a bloody mary in O'Hare at that hour. I'm already getting cranky at the thought of subjecting myself to the airport security Gestapo. I might check in if I can get a laptop to work from the beach.

I'm a little tardy with this post. Laura and I went on a motorcycle trip to West Bend Wisconsin for the annual BMW Members of America rally. This was our first get-away without the kids since our first child 12 years ago. Her parents are up from FL and stayed with the kids.

We stayed at a B&B in Grand Haven on day 1, then took the Lake Express ferry to WI and spent 3 nights tent camping at the rally. I think there were just shy of 8000 people at the rally. Then 2 more B&B's in WI, ferry back to MI, and one more night in a motel. 1305 miles, perfect weather every day. It was a great time. :)

Way to go, Dave. I'm glad you and Laura were able to sneak off for some time alone. I'm sure you both need that once and a while. Nice looking bike!

Thanks, Kathleen.

We arrived home at 3AM on Monday morning. That wasn't our plan, but that's how air travel goes these days.

We had a great time in Hatteras. There's not much to do besides, swim in the ocean, swim in the pool, eat, drink, and critique the tile jobs in our beach house rental.

Dan, Sounds like you had a great time at Hatteras. I've lived in SC for almost 30 years and still haven't made it to Hatteras. Frances' son lives in Wilmington, NC and we keep saying we are going to go see him and then on to Hatteras. She grew up in SC and hasn't been to Hatteras either.

Frances and I are looking forward to our Wisconsin trip October 10-20. We are spending part of the time with family and friends and part of the time touring northern Wisconsin. It's been a very long time since I have been in northern Wisconsin and Frances has never been there.

The wife and I have arrived in Gatlinburg, TN. Sitting outside typing and not sweating! :clap2: Hope to sweat tomorrow or Saturday when we hike 10 miles round trip to Mt. Leconte. Good thing I have Monday off to recover from the lunacy.

Sorry for the mistake, but my wife thinks a moderator should move these posts to a thread entitled "Torture", as a 2800' climb over five miles is not a "vacation" :D . Nice to get away and see some spectacular views, but nice to return and enjoy the day off (and our second anniversary :clap2: ) at the house. :tup1:

I'll be camping at Turkey Run in West Central Indiana this weekend. With highs near 90 and lows above 60, it's not my idea of good camping weather, but this trip was planned over a month ago. I usually camp in November and March.
