Deadliest Catch, any watchers?

Man I love that show, those dudes are out in the nasty weather, cold, pumping out 40+ straight hours catching the king crab. Anyway, a new seasons starts on tuesday. Next to Survivorman, that is my favorite show. :dance:

Ain't it the truth John. Next time I'm cursing away and lamenting why I took this stupid job and groaning because It's 6 o'clock and I'm just getting packed up, I need only think of those boys bouncing around like webble wobbles in the fridgid air. You know what though, they arent going hungry, I think full share deck hands on the N'western made 47K in 16 days last year. That some decent coin right there.

We have a lot of Alaska crab boats that home port right here in Newport (or Toledo) Oregon. One of the local guys wrote a book "Working on the Edge - Surviving In the World's Most Dangerous Profession: King Crab Fishing on Alaska's HighSeas" (http://www.amazon.com/Working-Edge-Surviving-Dangerous-Profession/dp/0312089244/). Hello Muley. Yah, my wife and I watch that show. Kind of reminds me of my early twenties. I went to the Bering Sea and fished opies and bairdi in the winter time. Big seas, beating ice off the boat with bats, no sleep, it's really fun. A hell of an experience. Everybody should try it. I came back home and fished out here, eventually to end up being a tile setting-timber cruising-deer and elk killing machine.

My Grampa fished on a Boat (King & Wing)with the guy that wrote that book.


I went to highschool with a few of those guys on that show.

Trasks grandfather{Wallace Bergerson} actually was a crab fisherman into his late 60's or maybe he was even 70. No joke, I've seen the picture of the gnarly old man and his big hands in rain gear on the back deck.

The only ship I know from that show, the NorthWestern, is currently dry docked here in Seattle. I was driving through the Ballard neighborhood and "BAM!", there it was right in front of me at a stop light. Looks like they've already stripped and re-painted the starboard and the castle. The whole port is down to bare metal though and ready for primer. Got some shots with my camera phone but I can't figure out how to translate them to postable pics. The "thingey" that throws the crab pots over the side is smaller than I had imagined.

That is an awesome show. I watch it most of the time. Those guys who do that are crazy. Working that hard hour after hour fighting wind waves ice and 800# crab pots knowing one **** up and you could easily die. I'll pass.

D'oh! I missed the new episode tonight. I was watching the hockey game.

Just steamed up some of those opies this past weekend. I'd have to say my favorite are the dungeness crab though.
