Is a sealer used to seal grout or tile or cement?
Does it seal against whear and flaking or does it seal against water and moisture? I came across a couple of bottels of sealer in a friends basement and was wondering if I sould consider using it on my shower floor which is;... grouted with hundreds of glass marble like beads I picked up at a dolar store.
I thought the grout was water resistant so do I need to seal it so it doesn't where down and or become more britle and then eventualy the glass beads would become loose. There is about a half inch or more gap between most of them.
I know its not recomended, but I like to try new things and think outside of the box. Whats the worst that can happen, I have to do it all over again?
Thanks for all your thoughts and input. :bonk:

Hi Andrew,

The answer depends on the product you are using.

Am impregnating sealer will settle into a product that is capable of of absorbing the product and leave a solid that resists water and oil infiltration.

Some products are topical. This means they go on the surface of a product and dry on the surface.

Your marbles won't need an impregnating sealer, and the grout will absorb it.
