Good morning folks! For the first time in over 30 years, the 50th annual of the American College of Healthcare Executives Congress on Healthcare Leadership decided to move south from Chicago to the Big Easy for a change of pace (and a chance at some warmer weather). I understand the College started planning this meeting back in 2000, well in advance of Hurricane Katrina, and the city and convention/visitors bureau was certainly committed to providing a memorable experience for over 4,000 healthcare administrators from all over the United States, Canada and a number of countries outside the U.S.

I've been here in New Orleans since Sunday morning, and must say that the trip has been memorable. I'll be uploading some pictures in the next couple of days from the trip. I do remember working the south Texas floods of 1998, and I have fond memories of being on the clock for nearly 72 hours straight while I was employed as a paramedic. Certainly, there was some devastation then, but I can honestly say that there's just no comparison between that and what I've seen in New Orleans this week.

This video (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CqP6wUJlTLM) was presented during one of our sessions. Ironically, the soundtrack that is paired with it and sung by Aaron Neville, describes the 1927 flood in New Orleans.

Cheers.
