I have been trying to highlight a portion of someone's thread to comment on it and have not been able to do so...I have done it in the past where it comes out highlighted, now the entire thread is printed and I have had to delete all but what I wanted. I have been right clicking and highlighting the part I want, then I go to quote/reply. Right?? Wrong????

Shawnee,

I have never used that feature. Let's wait for someone brighter than I am when it comes to operating this thing. :D

As far as I know it has always worked where you hit the quote button...

of the pics but they are limited to 30k. 100k would be nice- 75k would be very gracious. :stick:

Ken, the limit is there because every pic that is attached to a post goes into the database and stays there forever. Larger pics can be uploaded to another site and linked with the [.img] [./img] vbcode. (minus the periods). :)

Now Ken, you know damn well why we try to limit the size of pics. :D

Transfer rate, man. Do you know they are holding me up on transfer rate? :D

Well I figured nothing is forever so I researched some older threads and found that you're pushing one and a half gigs, and your package calls for 1 gig of bandwidth. If you're hosted with cybersalad John, you're getting killed.

Hosting services are like bank loans. You borrow a certain amount of storage space and bandwidth and you're locked in at a certain rate for a certain amount of time. As dynamic and competitive as the internet business is; there are new companies with state of the art hardware and software coming on-line everyday. And they're doing a better job at substantially less rates.

For instance one of the hosts I use, Rack Nine (http://www.racknine.com/ref.php?ref=kenfrango) provides 15 (fifteen) gigs of traffic and 600 (six hundred)megs of storage for under $100 (one hundred) a year. Now that's elbow room. Makes cybersalad look awfully wilted. Back up your database with a copy in your hand, and Renegotiate. If they won't bend- pack up and move. Consider also that they may not be able to become competitive and may dump you before you dump them. I've been there.

Point is this: we want to provide the very best product possible to our customers within a reasonable and affordable cost . Even (especially) if we run a not for profit business. Less than 10% of your membership lists personal or business websites. That means a large majority of your DIY membership is inconvenienced uploading and linking to a third party site.

Consider the upside to utilizing this great attachment feature to it's full potential... enhance participation convenience Pictures say 1000 words enhance problem solving johnbridge.com owns the rights to the pics and writes a new book.

Downside- more bandwidth and storage space = more cost? A good pic is 640 X 480 @ 75-80k. The floorums (http://www.cfifloorums.com) are set at 200k with no dimensions. If it's too big I resize and compress it, overwriting the original.
