I just installed a slate backsplash in my kitchen. It's Indian Autumn Unguaged. I didn't know anything about sealing it before install. Now that it's in, what's the best way to proceed? We would like a matte type finish (not too dull, not too glossy).

Thanks,

Thomas

Hello Thomas, here is a link to some great products that will help you care for your new stone. http://www.stonetechstore.com/ Check out the "Bullet proof" sealer. Most penetrating sealers only enhance the stones beauty and do not put a topical finish on them. Read all the directions especially the part with trying it in an inconspicuos area first :goodluck:

Hi Thomas, Welcome! :)

Before you take the next step, what do you want the slate to look like when you are finished?

I suggest you do a search on slate (from the toolbar above), and see if that gives you any ideas. ;)
