I have been trying to find a peach colored grout for months to match existing grout on a large job. I can not finding it anywhere. I now feel that the best way to match the grout is to mix it. Existing grout colors do not lend themselves to matching the peach color. Can I use white grout and mix in paint colorants to get to a desired color? Thanks Richard

I don't advise that, but i would think mixing some red grout with some of the orangeish beiges out there might achieve it.You would have to keep track of exactly how much of each color you mix.Try mixing small amounts, like a tablespoon of beige, and a teaspoon of red, maybe, then just adjust that amount to a larger portion you will be using.Or try some concrete stain, but i don't think it will work as well.Have you looked into Spectrum,or each of the big boys..Laticrete,Tec, Bonsal, Mapei,Custom.

Thanks, I have sent an email to groutdye There site says they will custom make grout colorant stains. Waterbased? Is this the right direction? 3600 sq. feet. 12 x 12, 1/2" to 3/4" peach grout. 14 years old and needing some replacement. I figure I could repair needed areas with any color grout and stain all the grout to get nice new look. Lots of traffic in tropical climate.
What do you think?

Hi Richard, Welcome! :)
Can you post a picture? :shades:
Can you share the tropical climate that you're in? (Just out of curiosity.)
Do you know if the grout has ever been sealed? Is the tile over a concrete slab, and are there any moisture issues?
Also the type of product needs to be addressed. If it's a stain or a dye, how many color shades is it capable of changing? This might require that a similiar color grout match the existing. If this is a grout colorant, you will usually need two coats minimum to match different color grouts. Add that you may need the grout to be properly cured before applying product.
Not to complicate matters, what type of tile has 1/2" - 3/4" grout joints? A couple that come to mind are hand made clay tiles from Mexico. Just another obstacle.
These are all concerns that need to be addressed before even considering using a grout colorant/stain/dye. Can you give us more details? Did I mention photo's would be good? ;)

I believe I have attached a picture. THe location is US Virgin Islands. The grout has not been sealed. It has been cleaned with various cleaners, bleaches and acid. It is worn out in kitchen, bath and dining areas. Yes it is over concrete and moisture is common. rain in thru windows/doors, people in and out from pool and hot tub. I would be able to stay in the same shade for repair work and would stain grout to existing (or close to) color. Two coats is fine the curing can create problems due to access & project time constraints. The tile could be from anywhere. Picture attached. Hope this helps.

Hi Richard :)
Thanks for the photos!
Personally, I don't see any problems with using Aqua Mix Grout Colorant. Moisture on the surface isn't an issue. It is if it were coming from the slab side. The grout colorant also cures quickly, and you can do it in sections. This would make it a perfect candidate for your application, in my opinion. I'm sure you'll even be able to find a suitable color. They make color matches for several different grout manufacturers.
