I have pickled Satillo tile that has been down for 16 years that was sealed twice with JAMO Mexican Tile sealer which is oil based. I belive the pickling solution was it self a sealer. Some of the tiles now have a yellow hue and in the high traffic areas it is worn down to the tile itself. I would like to strip the tile and reseal it as it is in pretty bad shape. How do I tackle this ?
Thanks,
Deborah

Hi Deborah, Welcome! :)
Have you tried a search? :shades:
There is a lot of info on this topic. Since you're trying to remove a solvent based product, you may want to consider hiring a professional.
Can you post any pictures?

I have contacted a professional and after hearing the estimate of @$5,000 for 900 Sq ft we thought that maybe we could do it ourselves. I will try to get some photos posted.

Link to a stripper that may work (http://www.aquamix.com/for_professionals/products/pg_detail.asp?pdid=2462&pgid=9833). I'd say 5 to 7 days and $500.00 worth of stripper, saltillo sealer, trash bags, application equipment, respirators,(if needed) and such,i would say well worth the effort, but too in depth for me to type out. another...http://www.aldonchem.com/

Seal Systems has been in the business of stripping and sealing pavers for over 25 years. We work on pavers every single day and are capable of doing up to 800 s/f feet in a day using our own stripper that I have made for me. In the 25 years I have never needed to charge anything close to $5000.00 for 900 s/f.
Get another estimate. Use the link after my signature to read about the process on my website and be sure that your guy uses this type of hand stripping method. If you happen to be in California we can help you, but it is a big country and you are probably in another state. My phone number is on my website, If you have any questions give me a call. Advice is always free.
Good Luck

I've only ever had a Saltillo floor stripped one time on behalf of a customer and decided right then the only Saltillo restoration tool I'd ever use again was a telephone. :shades:
You make it sound way too easy on your website, Mike, but you ain't trickin' me into tryin' it. :D

Here is a link to a description of some Saltillo with the same problems. This is also a much less costly way of dooing this work.
