I have white, glass ceramic tile in my beauty supply store. I've noticed stains that look like shadows which I can't mop away. We use alcohol and water to mop so it won't water spot but it dosn't clean it very well. Also, is acetone safe when nail polish gets spilled on it? I need something inexpensive and my store has a very big sales floor!

I don't know exactly what kind of tile that is,so i'm not sure about using chemicals.Acetone should be harmless to renmove the nail polish, though. The clouding could be trapped moisture under the tile,or some etching,if you're using any acid based chemicals, such as citrus cleaners, hair sprays, bleaching agents,or even heavy use of peroxide.A neutral tile and stone cleaner would be best for regular use.

Thank you for your reply, I don't know what kind of tile it is either. That is just what I was told, but it is beautiful even when it is dirty. Do you think vinegar would work? It dosn't really look like moisture, it looks more like dirty mop water only its stained. I really appreciate your input.

It may be dirty mop water.
What happens when you clean a section with clean paper towel and water, after it has been mopped? Does it clear up? Or not?

A lot of times mopping just spreads the dirt around, try a heavy duty tile and grout cleaner and wetvac it up, this should remove any dirt.

Hi Tag, Welcome! :)
If you try using a stone & tile specific neutral pH cleaner, might also help. They usually contain dirt surfacants to help remove soil. Of course proper maintaince procedure is important as well.
Sweep, mop, or vac first. Wash with solution, but change it as soon as it becomes cloudy. If you continue to use dirty water, you are just spreading around the dirt, and building layers when it dries.
A scrub and wet vac will yield best results.

You all are so helpful! I am sure it's not actually dirty mop water because I am the only one who is froggy enough to actually stay to sweep and mop the floor. I am going to try the neutral cleanser, hopefully this will help. I have talked to other managers and they are having the same problem with the new floors. thanks again for all your help.

I manage a Sally Beauty Supply store, the company is putting this new tile floor in all the new stores. It is really pretty and I am sure I am making it more maintenance than it should be but I can't help being a recovering perfectionist. I'm hoping the suggestions I've gotten here put my worries to rest! Thanks again.
