Hello, I just (24 hours ago) applied Enhancer Pro to a new tumbled marble floor. I thought I was careful not to over apply it and not to let it dry. The tile has a slighlty waxy feel now. I know the enhancer is supposed to penatrate the stone and not feel different on the surface. I took a sample to the tile shop and asked the installer how has many year of experience and he thought the sample I had done was fine and that it will have a slightly waxy feel to it. Stonetech tech line says you should not be able to feel it on the surface at all. It has only been 20 hours, is it just not fully dry yet?Can anyone tell me from their own experience what they think. Thanks Jim

Don't know about waxy, but it shouldn't be tacky,if it's cold and humid it may take longer to dry,but after 24 hours it should be finished.

Hi Jim :)

How did you apply the enhancer?

What method did you use to remove the excess?

How many square feet is covered with stone?

What size are the stone tiles?

Do you need to answer all of these questions? :shades:

To be continued ...

40 sf, 16x16 tile. I applied the enhancer with a cloth because I found it went on with the least amount of product to help avoid over application. I waited about 15 minutes and removed what was left with several dry towels.
I contacted stonetech, they said to try mineral spirtits to remove the excess. I did that and think I found the solution. The next part is 60 SF of 12 x 12 in the shower/tub area. Next time I will not wait as long to remove it and apply less. Thanks for your help! Jim

I recently installed tumbled marble for a backsplash and have applied 3 coats of enhancer pro. Two prior to grouting and one after. It also has a "waxy" feel to it - which I don't see as a problem on the wall - might be a problem on a floor though. I let the first application set for about 15 minutes, the next two were less time - however there wasn't much let to wipe off as the tumbled marble absorbed virtually all of the sealer. First time using it so I can't say if that's the norm - we'll probably use what's left over to seal the grout lines on the floor I'm finishing up this weekend :yipee:

Hi Duane :)

Try to avoid overapplication. These are impregnating sealers. They are not intended to be a coating. You could try to apply some of the sealer with a rag to soften the excess, and buff dry immediately. It will take some trial and error to see what works the best.

Try to get a applicator bottle with a brush tip for the sealer to apply to the grout joints. It will speed up the process tremendously! ;)

If using a little sealer on a rag only works slightly then you will need to use more sealer or use a mechanical buffer with cotton bonnets to rub it off of the tiles. You can rent these and it will cost less then using alot of sealer to remove sealer.
